The Skipton Music Festival was founded in 1922. Held in different venues in early March this presents an opportunity for young people to display their talents.
A week long celebration of spring in the Dales, in late April/early May, features walks starting and ending at stations along the Settle-Carlisle railway line, hence wonderfully convenient for Skipton.
Each day the best local musicians will feature in pubs along the railway line. Renowned walkers, authors and archaeologists share their love of the area in a series of talks.
Please note – only registered assistance dogs are allowed at the ride2stride organised walks and events.Regardless of when you visit the Programme of Walks, available on their website, provides some inspiration for circular walks in stunning countryside that are easily accessible by train from Acorn Cottage.
In mid-May a number of interesting and unusual venues across Skipton open their doors to celebrate rural film, and remind you of the importance of the great outdoors in film.
Taking place over two weeks in May and June, it’s a celebration of music and arts in the three northernmost Dales of Swaledale, Wensleydale and Arkengarthdale playing host to some of the world’s top classical music artists.
