Yorkshire’s cheese pedigree has it’s origins in the 11th century when Cistercian monks brought their cheese making skills with them from Normandy. Wensleydale is arguably the most iconic, but there are a wide range of alternatives, from Swaledale to Ribblesdale. This success has spawned a side-industry of preserves, chutneys, gins and other accessories. These are all showcased through this week long festival, kicking off at the Wensleydale Creamery but taking place around the Dales.
